OXYMORONS
photo book
Opus of twenty-five street photographs, presented in the photo book “oxymorons,” was created at one of Friday’s anti-government cycling protests in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, in May 2020.
The purpose of the photo story was not to draw any politically colored definition of the protesters, but to record, but to record unique moments through people who, both in the capital and in major cities in Slovenia, took the streets and squares by bicycle. The thought of capturing the re-pulse and socialization of the urban environment through a demonstrative exit to the streets, symbolizing social engagement and the power of the crowd, was the filter that dictated the rhythm of the camera shutter.
With all the slogans, inscriptions, banners, and chanting of the crowd, through the conflicting phrase “honest politician” and thus the naming of the photo book oxymorons, offering itself. The word oxymoron, or otherwise also clever nonsense, originates from Greek (-oxys sharp and -moros stupid) and is a sentence word figure that combines two exclusive concepts.
